I could spend hours and still not understand: Cockney Rhyming Slang
Next time, order Thai food the right way: Talking Menu for Thai
This weekend, molto crap weather in Pavia and most of northern Italy, which was fine because I was able to download the second season episodes of LOST on iTunes and stay safely inside. Addiction. being. fed. I’ve already caught up on all of them. All 14.
- Calderoli has resigned. After the Italian Embassy was burned down and 10 people died in Libya. What a disgrace. He claims it’s his decision, but Berlusconi definitely asked him to leave. Now his political party (Lega Nord – Northern League) is looking to break off their coalition because it’s too moderate.
- Roma has made futbol (soccer) history by winning 10 straight games in a row. Unfortunately, Francesco Totti, Roma poster boy and die-hard Roman (and let’s admit, a cutie), fractured his ankle and is out for two months. Hopefully back in time for the FIFA World Cup in Germany this summer.
- Corriere della Sera, one of the most popular newspapers in Italy, has added a Chinese version of its website. No English available. (Yet?)
Another time-consumer….I recently added myself to MySpace. I had resisted for a long time since I have other online networking memberships. Not sure what MySpace is? Check out this video from the Daily Show about online Social Networking here.
It seems to be the only way to get the latest information on my brother, and of course, to spy on the girls trying to be his girlfriend. They always leave little comments like, “What’s crackin’?” and “What up playa?” – so I’ll have to brush up on my Southern California slang again. :)
I’m finding MySpace to be full of people named “Simmer” and “Hypnotik” with 5,000 friends. See the video above for the expert’s viewpoint on this.
Another revelation this weekend, I’m slightly disturbed to find out John Corbett has made his country-singing debut. Video for “I’m Good to Go”
He conditioned me to love him as Aiden in Sex in the City and in also when he was in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Furniture maker? Sexy. Teacher? YES! Big sideburn, tractor-driving, hole-digging country singer? Er…
Don’t get me wrong. I spent almost 5 years in Texas for university #1, and I respect country music, especially the Classics. George Strait still speaks to me. I also think some of the best voices in the music business are in country music.
But. Not sure this was a good move for Johnny boy. Any other disasters I should know about?

This is probably another disaster itself: il corriere della sera does have an English version; although it’s named “Italian life”, I’m not sure why. You can find it here.

Corriere della Sera does have an article a day in English, look right above the Chinese link on the left hand side, says Italian Life.
Ann married to an Italian living near Milan.

Jay: ‘spy on the girls trying to be his girlfriend’…..Good Sara, get out the brass knuckles and rolls of quarters to punch out any tramps that come my way.
