This weekend I only did three things: Bake, Read, and Walk through il Centro di Milano, the center of Milan.
We don’t have a Christmas tree at home this year, but I am surrounded by them! Which one do you like best? Are there any good Christmas trees around you?
This is the tree that is decorated at work. Though it’s not a pine tree, I like it because it uses a tree that is already part of our landscaping (multi-use and recycling is good) and it’s the first and last thing I see at the office so it helps improve my mood and remind me it’s the holiday season.
This is the tree the Comune di Milano provided (the City Hall-government) and it’s right in front of the Duomo which is very very ugly right now – since it’s still covered up, this is an excuse to use the “covered-up” space to display ads. I can’t wait until it gets back to normal. I feel a little snarky but the Comune tree is pretty scraggly and reminds me of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Poor tree. At least it’s got a nice backdrop.
Maybe my previous comments make more sense once you see this tree – this is the Swarovski tree, only a few meters from the Comune tree, decorated of course with Swarovski crystals and about a million lights, and if possible, an even better gilded backdrop. I feel for the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
i LOVED D in a box. I think JT is great on SNL. Love it when they do the Barry Gibb Show (though this past skit wasnt as funny as the first one they ever did) He is a great Robin Gibb. Am i showing my age on that one? hehe

Did you see the tree in front of the duomo last Christmas? It was worse. This one is really nice in comparison.
I don’t remember last year’s but I do remember the Swarovski one from last year so maybe I blocked out the one in front of the Duomo. Poor tree. :(

There is a Swarovski tree in the Galleria Colonna in Rome as well. It’s not roped off or anything, you can get right up to it, and it is positively dripping with beautiful crystal ornaments. I couldn’t help but wonder if people would steal them? I think big city living has corrupted my thought patterns. !!

They put the Swarovski tree in Milan up high – you can’t get anywhere near it. Maybe the one in Rome is contraband Swarovski so they aren’t as worried about it? :)
