Beth, I’ll send you an email to get your details – the chocolate won’t be shipped until the New Year.
In past years I’ve shared some beautiful decorations around Milan and some unusual ones, too, but I thought I’d share what decorations I had in my own home this year.
For the first time, I had a Christmas tree in my house. I grew up with a fresh pine tree each year, that my family and I went to cut down together, much like the Griswolds but without the frostbite. Now, we usually don’t get a tree since we spend the majority of our holidays at my in-laws or in another country, but this year I decided I wanted to start some of our own traditions, and bought a Christmas tree.
Well, a little wooden Christmas tree, actually.
But I love it. We found it at the German Christmas market in Edinburgh, Scotland and brought it back to Italy. It makes me happy – I can spin it around and the little ornaments sway. I had fun deciding where to hang them. And it packs away flat so I can justify its addition to our tiny apartment.
I’ll be offline until after the New Year, so I’m putting comments in moderation so I can relax a bit while I’m away – so don’t be confused if your comment doesn’t show up immediately – I’ll publish them when I get back!
Happy Holidays to everyone and Happy New Year!

I love those little Christmas trees like that and think it’s such a great idea. We splurged with a tree just slightly bigger than that as well. I think the best part as you said, it packs away flat, love it! I remember seeing one like that while browsing Christmas markets in Switzerland. Great choice!

I also bought this tree this year in Australia. We used it as an advent tree as it has 25 ornaments. My children took turns each day leading up to Christmas Day putting an ornament on.

Your tree is positively adorable. I was in Italy from Oct. 15 to Nov. 25 and loved every minute of it.
This time I stayed in a convent in Foligno, Perugia.
Every day my dear friend Eleonora and her husband
Pino would go for a visit to a local town – Spoleto, Assissi, it was so beguiling. Being Canadian it is impossible for me to find a little wooden tree. I hope you had a wonderful time and holiday. I wish you would write an article on all the Convents there are to stay in Italy. There were two in Foligno alone. God Bless, Happy New Year,
Barbara (O Canada).
