If you’re looking for some Sunday reading or recipes, I’ve got you covered. Here’s what I’ve been craving and some links from around the web for you to enjoy.
Right now I’m craving a maritozzo, a bread roll (sweet, but not too sweet) cut open and filled to the brim with panna, whipped cream. Here’s more about the great maritozzo. Say what you want, but to me it’s quite light compared to the other pastries I’ve seen (and rejected). I prefer whipped cream over custard or egg cream any day.
That’s what I’m craving. And check out my past cravings. Read on for some Delicious Links!

October means we’re far from summer by now. Fall is upon us. Thankfully, my cravings are in tune with the season, and I’m excited to start spending time in one of my favorite food seasons: Soup season! I love making soup, with my own homemade chicken stock, and during a good week I’ll have soup several times a week.
This Creamy Roasted Red Pepper Soup is colorful and simple to make. Added to to-dos.
This Sausage and Sweet Potato Zucchini Lasagna has skyrocketed to the top of my to-make list.
I am not a fan of chicken livers, but I now realize the reason why I love dirty rice so much is because of those livers. I’m sorry livers. Now I’m more of a fan. This Dirty Thai Fried Rice takes the love one step further and incorporates some of those Thai flavors I love so much.
And while we’re on the subject of Thai, these Peanut Noodles with Napa Cabbage will satisfy that peanut sauce craving I have in an instant.
I started smuggling popcorn kernels back home because I love popping it at home, and now I’m excited to try some flavorful combinations. This Furikake Kettle Corn seems like a great place to start.
Another soup. Of course topping it with bacon will always catch my eye, but on top of this Smoked Bacon Corn Cheese Chowder, it just makes sense.
When Mother’s Cookies briefly went out of business in 2008-2009, I had friends in California grab some animal cookies for me to put aside for my next trip. I have a lot of nostalgia in those impossibly pink-and-white-sprinkled cookies, and while I don’t crave them like I once did, I like the idea of incorporating them into a delicious ice cream. It’s coffee-flavored, which means it mashes up my adulthood and childhood in a way it’s never been done before. No-Churn Coffee Ice Cream with Circus Animal Cookie Crumbs.
I used to avoid eggs with the yolk just staring at you like this, but now I can finally enjoy them. I’d like to try this Crispy Egg as soon as possible.
And a salt & vinegar potato galette? Yes, please.
And a little more for your Sunday:
This article about blogging “becoming a slog” reminds me so much why I don’t want to intertwine my lifestyle too much into my site. Much like my post about rethinking food photography, much of the pressure comes from within, and it’s a good idea to continually reassess this.
You wouldn’t think you could communicate much in one second of video, but this video manages to convey a whole lot of somethings about my second home, San Francisco: SF One Sec Shots.
And an Etsy find —How do you keep bread from getting too stale? Love these linen bread bags for this.
